"An Akron mother was outraged Friday morning when she learned that she and the father of her children were heading to prison for the death of their 2-year-old daughter, who was found unresponsive in the cold last February. Parents arrested after gaunt daughter flees 'foul-smelling' California home, alerts cops to shackled siblings
" An emaciated 17-year-old California girl escaped her parents' clutches and alerted investigators to a house of horrors where several of her underweight siblings were found shackled to their beds in "foul-smelling surroundings," authorities said Monday. The girl's parents, identified as David Turpin, 57, and Louise Turpin, 49, were arrested Sunday on charges of child endangerment and torture after the teen called 911 from a cell phone she found in the family's home in Perris, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said. The Turpins were being held on $9 million bail and could face charges ranging from child endangerment to torture."

Autistic boy wandered streets as MTA conductor mom sat home drunk
Charisma Bellamy was charged with endangering the welfare of a child in the latest incident Monday night. An MTA conductor was home, drunk, while her autistic 9-year-old son was wandering around in a Bronx subway station — the second time a week she neglected him, police sources said Tuesday. Charisma Bellamy, 37, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child in the latest alleged incident, which happened about 11:25 p.m. Monday inside the 161st St. station on the D line. That's where a straphanger saw the boy on the southbound platform, police said. The good Samaritan took him to the police facility inside the same station, where officers immediately recognized him from the earlier incident, authorities said."

"State child services workers visited but had done little for a malnourished 15-year-old boy who weighed 47 pounds when police found him Wednesday covered in bodily fluids and insects inside a dilapidated Baton Rouge residence, the teenager's aunt said. Edna Mitchell, 54, said she was present during one of the three times over the past few years representatives from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services checked in on the boy. She said agents were only concerned with whether the child's family had access to food and running water, which they did, and didn't intervene further in a situation that eventually led to the boy's declining health and the arrest of his mother, 49-year-old Rose Holland, on drug and child cruelty charges Wednesday."

Arkansas parents arrested after newborn found with severe rat bites
"An ER nurse explained that the child was 15 days old, weighed about five pounds, and had been bitten at least 100 times. The nurse said the bites were severe. Police say the baby's arms, fingers, hands and face were covered in rodent bites. There was a wound about one-inch wide on the baby's forehead, in which the baby's skull was visible."

Amanda Nicole Savage, 24, and Gary Lee Savage, 26, got caught lifting toys and lubricants from Priscilla's Lingerie Store in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Sunday night, according to an arrest report cited by WBTW-TV."

"Two mothers are accused of standing by and doing nothing as their 12 children were physically and sexually abused by their father in what's being described by authorities as a secret 'cult.'
The sickening allegations involving Washington dad Melford Warren Jr., 43, led to one deputy calling it 'one of the worst cases of abuse we've ever seen,' Q13 News reported.
'These children were held against their will, denied nutrition, denied medical care, and physically and sexually abused,' Scott Wilson, of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, told the station after asserting his claim.
Detectives say Warren's children, ranging in age from infanthood to 13, were taught to hide the abuse and never speak with police."

"A California mom abandoned her 4–year–old daughter at home for at least seven hours while she went out with friends, authorities said.

Neighbors told investigators they'd heard a child crying since about 3 p.m. on Monday and finally called the manager of the Rancho Cucamonga apartment complex about 8:25 p.m.
