A woman was arrested in Indianapolis Sunday after her baby was found locked in a van as temperatures soared into the 90s, authorities said.

Stacie Faus, who investigators said apparently had left the child in the van while she shopped at an east-side K-Mart, is charged with neglect of a dependent.

A passer-by heard the 8-month-old boy crying and alerted security officers inside the store.

The store paged Faus for about 30 minutes before she was found, police said.

The baby, who witnesses said was soaked in sweat and red-faced, was taken to Community Hospital East where he was checked out and later released.

Faus was arrested on a charge of neglect of a dependent. If convicted, Faus could be sentenced to up to three years in jail.
