A Putnam County, N.Y., lawyer pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of child pornography, a spokesman for prosecutors said Tuesday.

Robert Groezinger of Patterson, N.Y., admitted to one count of possessing computer files containing images of child pornography before Southern District of New York Judge Stephen C. Robinson in White Plains.

Groezinger, 53, faces as much as 10 years in prison when he is sentenced by Robinson on Oct. 27.

Groezinger, a former part-time legal counsel to state Sen. Serphin R. Maltese, was arrested as part of Operation Predator, an initiative of Immigration and Customs Enforcement aimed at stopping people who prey on children. A spokesman said Operation Predator has netted over 11,000 arrests since 2003.

Groezinger was represented by Vincent Briccetti of Briccetti Calhoun & Lawrence in White Plains, N.Y. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna M. Skotko is handling the prosecution.
