Former Cub Scout Leader Admits to Sex Crimes Originally published by WLWT.com, May 8, 2008CINCINNATI -- A former Cub Scout leader pleaded guilty Thursday to sex crimes and other charges. Russell Back admitted to one count of kidnapping, three counts of disseminating harmful material to juveniles and one count of importuning and was sentenced to nine years in prison. The Deer Park man had pleaded guilty in October to three counts of kidnapping and four sex crime charges, but withdrew that plea in January. Back was charged in July with six counts of kidnapping, three counts of child endangerment, two counts of gross sexual imposition, one count of importuning and three counts of distributing harmful material to minors. Back was arrested after parents questioned their children about what they were doing in his home. Investigators said Back, who had faced a maximum sentence of 36 years if convicted on all counts, lured children into his home, tied them up, videotaped them and took off his clothes in front of them. Police said no Cub Scouts appeared to have been victims of any of the crimes. © Copyright 2008 WLWT.com |
