MEDINA — A Medina mother who told investigators that she was coaxed into raping her 6-year-old son when her husband threatened to leave will spend the next 16 years in prison.

On Friday, Medina County Common Pleas Judge Christopher Collier sentenced the 24-year-old woman, who is not being named to protect the child, to nine years in prison on each of two counts of rape, which will be served concurrently.

The woman also received seven years each on charges of pandering sexually oriented material involving minors and endangering a child. Those two sentences also will be served concurrently.

Collier chastised the woman for failing to protect her son, and ordered that the nine-year and seven-year sentences should be served consecutively.

The woman's 30-year-old husband was sentenced Sept. 27 to two concurrent life sentences for sexually assaulting the child while his wife photographed them.

An investigation of the abuse began when someone found a picture of a man molesting the child and gave it to the Medina County Sheriff's Department.

Medina County Prosecutor Dean Holman was pleased with Collier's sentence.

"This mother's conduct was sickening and disgusting,'' Holman said. "An animal takes better care of its children than this person did.''
