Accused multi-state serial stalker Andre Davis jailed By John Marzulli and Scott Shifrel A hulking creep who police say terrorized his ex-girlfriend in three states, even showing up in a disguise at her job in a federal courthouse, was jailed Friday. Knowing Andre Davis is behind bars for the time being brought relief to Avalyn Brown, but she wants a judge hearing the case Monday to make sure he stays locked up. "I have sleepless nights," Brown told the Daily News. "I have to tell my kids to watch their backs. It has taken a toll on me." Davis, 42, has avoided prison despite more than 50 arrests - many for breaking stay-away orders for Brown and two other women, according to court records and law enforcement sources. "He has said he is going to hurt me," she said. "He said it's going to be a 'black, rainy day' for me. Every day you read about ex-girlfriends losing their lives ... I am begging the judge, please don't let him out." The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Davis has also been busted for larceny, illegal weapons possession, assault and other charges. He was convicted four times, pleading guilty in exchange for probation. The latest case stems from a Jan. 7, 2008, incident in which police say Davis assaulted Brown with an empty milk crate and threatened her with a gun. He made $2,500 bail and was ordered not to contact Brown, who has since relocated twice. She says he has called and visited her anyway, even tracking her on a trip to Florida. "Bitch, you think this is over," she accused him of saying in a phone call to New Jersey after his arrest. "Bitch, Jersey's not far enough." Later, Davis, who one law enforcement source said is a "smooth talker," lightened his hair and showed up at the Brooklyn Federal Courthouse with flowers trying to see Brown, she said. Friday, with two New York City detectives waiting to arrest him on the latest violation, Davis ticked off a Brooklyn judge when he denied stopping Brown at a bus stop. "I didn't do anything wrong," Davis told Justice Matthew D'Emic. "She crossed the street right in front of the car, looked at me and kept walking. I went straight to the 69th Precinct to report it." He also claimed to have called the two detectives waiting to arrest him outside the courtroom. "Everything's a coincidence with you," D'Emic fumed, reminding Davis he also said he ran into Brown at a supermarket by chance. "Something's going on here and I have to make sure everybody's safe." He then ordered Davis held without bail until Monday's hearing. © Copyright 2009 Daily News, L.P. | |||||
